As a recent issue of New York magazine pointed out, the real estate market may be crashing, but reality TV shows about real estate are booming. One highlight is Bravo’s Flipping Out, which follows overly-Botoxed douchebag realtor Jeff Lewis as he ‘flips’ multimillion-dollar mansions and estates in the L.A. area. The show also devotes plenty of time to Lewis throwing work at his assistant, Jenni Pulos, who (to her credit) seems to be pretty strong, and often does the difficult task of getting her high-strung boss to chill out.
Lewis, perhaps aware of the “evil boss” reputation he earned during the first season of Flipping Out, has made some adjustments. He suffers from OCD and has now started seeing a therapist to help balance out his mood swings and compulsive behavior. And, most importantly, he’s gained a little perspective. Lewis told the New York Daily News that dealing with his wealthy, demanding clients taught him a little about what it’s like to be an assistant. As for whether that sense of perspective will encourage him to treat his own assistant with more respect, well… let’s see how the rest of the season plays out.
