how an assistant almost sunk ‘canterbury’s law’

Julianna Margulies, best known for her role as nurse Carol Hathaway on ER (back when people still watched ER), has just made her debut in the new drama Canterbury’s Law.  She was sent a copy of the pilot script with a letter stating it came from the network FX. Margulies, who strongly wanted to stay in her native New York for work, was happy to see that the show was being produced at FX, which is based in the Big Apple. However, a small screwup by either an admin assistant or production assistant almost sank the whole show. Canterbury’s Law was actually being produced by FOX, based in Los Angeles. Oops! Luckily, although Margulies considered changing her mind when she discovered the mixup, she liked the project enough to do it, thus probably keeping the Fox assistant from getting fired.

We just have one question, though…what about the company letterhead? Even if the text of the letter mentioned FX, wouldn’t the letter have come on official Fox letterhead? Or arrive in a package with Fox as the return address? Something about this “mixup” smells funny to us, or maybe that’s just our blind devotion to assistants (even ones who mess up) taking over.
