Hell hath no fury like a worker mistreated (I mean, hello, this website continues to exist). Will LaVeist is a former employee of Johnson Publishing, the prestigious company that produces the magazines Ebony and Jet. He got canned not once but twice–after he was fired, a company exec offered him his job back for if he accepted a pay cut, and not long after agreeing to the deal he got canned again. Obviously, he’s pissed, and with good reason. Now, he’s writing a book about his experiences.
Zondra Hughes blogs on the topic on the Huffington Post, noting: “Working is a free will endeavor. The worker bee provides a service. The boss pays for that service. When either party feels that the service is no longer needed and/or mutually beneficial, the agreement is dissolved. Base the boss/worker bee relationship on respect, and such dissolutions would be the end of the story, allowing both parties to begin their next chapter on a high note.” When respect doesn’t exist, though, that’s when people write tell-all books so the world is well aware of how they were treated.
