Ever seen the movie Sweet Home Alabama, with Reese Witherspoon as a bigshot NYC fashion designer whose roots are, well, in sweet home Alabama? Turns out there’s stuff in the movie you didn’t see: namely Erin, Reese’s character Melanie’s personal assistant. Why did Erin (played by Katharine Towne) get lost in editing? It had a lot to do with how test audiences responded to her. The testers didn’t seem to enjoy the subplot where Erin had a thing for Melanie’s fiance, played by Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsey.
